About Riley Poor

An aspiring agent of social change motivated by connection, complexity, growth, and curiosity.

Riley Poor is an award-winning action sports filmmaker, cinematographer, director, executive producer, and marketer. He hails from humble roots in Crested Butte, Colorado. Riley has navigated his way through the snowsports industry with an impressive resumé working for many heavy-hitting production companies, including Matchstick Productions, Standard Films, Poor Boyz Productions, Red Bull, and Nike. His early work was responsible for documenting the professionals and progression of Freeskiing from the sport’s earliest days through its induction in the 2014 Sochi Olympics, where Riley was honored with a spot in the Olympic torch relay. Riley’s work as a cinematographer and director has been recognized at the Emmys and awarded worldwide, impacting the imagination of a subculture.

In 2009 while in mid-production on a film, Riley injured his spinal cord at age 25, leaving him a wheelchair user and quadriplegic. This life-changing event could have derailed Riley’s career and passion for sport and filmmaking, but instead, it led to a new chapter when he took on a role at Nike world headquarters that he helped create just ten months after his injury. Riley’s relationship with Nike started before this transition when he served as their global ski team manager from 2007 to 2010. While with the brand until 2021, Riley worked as an Executive Producer on numerous films and advertising campaigns, including the award-winning Never Not series. Riley also served as a volunteer leader on Nike’s Ability & Friends Network and provided a key voice in Nike’s ongoing diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts by driving awareness of the contributions and potential of the disabled community. Former coworkers describe him as a curious thinker, innovator, strategist, and an inspired representative of the causes and communities he promotes.

Riley is now a universal designer, consultant, speaker, writer, and disability advocate on a mission to highlight diverse stories within communities impacted by a disability that you might otherwise not hear. As an aspiring agent of social change, and through perseverance and innovation, Riley continues to tell the stories of subcultures that are critical to sparking curiosity in big social solutions. Decades of experience in marketing, advertising, film and video production, editing, writing, public speaking, and the study of society serve as the backbone of his work.
